Language and Reconstruction of Gender Stereotype:A Feminist Stylistic Interpretation of Eveline

女性主义文体学家认为语言不是一种中性的载体,而是社会意识形态和社会结构的产物,因而语言可以重塑社会现实。女性的社会性别刻板印象就是语言建构出来的一种社会现实。从女性主义文体学的角度出发,本文分析詹姆斯·乔伊斯的短篇小说《伊芙琳》的女主人公伊芙琳的社会刻板印象是如何通过语境、及物性系统、碎片化和隐喻来重塑的,说明女性主义文体学的分析模式不仅秉承了传统文体学分析的客观性,而且还关注语言现象所蕴含的社会经济因素。

Feminist stylisticians think that language is not a neutral carrier but a product of social ideology and social structure,so it can reconstruct the social reality. Female ＇s gender stereotype is also a kind of social reality constructed by language. This paper discusses how the gender stereotype of the heroin Eveline is reconstructed through context,transitivity,fragmentation and metaphor from the perspective of Feminist Stylistics,which proves that the analysis mode of feminist stylistics not only keeps the objectivity of the traditional stylistic analysis,but also focuses on social and economic factors embodied in language.
