The discrimination of tongue picture is one of the unique methods for the diagnosis of febrile diseases in Wen Re Lun.By observing the changes of patients＇ tongue picture,we can understand the severity of the Evil in the patients,the nature of the Evil,the depth of the lesions,and the condition of body fluids,defects or substantial damage to the organs to which Wei,Qi,Ying,Xue and San Jiao belong. In Wen Re Lun,discriminations of tongue picture are frequently used to judge the urgency of the diseases at different stages,the urgency of the transmission,and the urgency of treatment. With knowledge of tongues pictures and the identification of tongue pictures,the disease can be dealt with in the earliest stage. All of these come from Ye Tianshi＇s unique clinical experience and are worth learning as doctors.
