摘要
文章以评价理论为基础,利用美国当代英语语料库(COCA)关于安徽16个地级城市的语料进行分析,考察美国媒体对安徽城市的关注度、关注点和接受度,进而探究美国媒体中的安徽城市形象。研究结果表明:美国媒体对安徽的合肥和芜湖两个城市的关注度较高,主要关注文学、科学、教育和经济等重要方面;合肥和芜湖"城市形象"在美国媒体中呈现不同的变化趋势,合肥在1990-2015年间从就业体制不完善的"城市形象"转变为科学技术发达的优质"城市形象",芜湖在2000-2015年间从环境优美的"城市形象"转变为教育体制不够完善的"城市形象"。
Under the framework of Appraisal Theory,this paper conducts a study of the images of 16 cities in Anhui in the American media based on the Corpus of Contemporary American English(COCA)through exploring the concern degrees,priorities and acceptances of cities in Anhui in the American media.The results show that Hefei City and Wuhu City are of relatively high concern in the American media,chiefly in terms of literature,science,education and economy,and that the images of Hefei City and Wuhu City have different trends of change:the image of Hefei City has turned into a city of advanced science and technology from a city with a poor employment system from 1990 to 2015,while the image of Wuhu City has turned into a city with an imperfect education system from a city with a good environment from 2000 to 2015.
