《欲望号街车》中模糊限制语的顺应性研究

On Adaptability of Hedges in A Streetcar Named Desire

戏剧文本是一种以人物对话为主的文学形式,对语境有较高的依赖性。作为一种特殊的语言现象,采用模糊限制语是戏剧家经常选择用于创作的语言策略之一。文章选取《欲望号街车》中人物的对白作为语料,以语言顺应论为理论框架,对模糊限制语在剧中的使用情况进行动态研究。研究发现,模糊限制语的使用在很大程度上是顺应物理世界、社交世界及心理世界中具体语境因素的结果,这些物理、社交和心理因素是模糊限制语产生的内在动因。

Dramatic text is one kind of literary forms dominated by dialogues,thus it is highly contextdependent.Hedge,as a special linguistic phenomenon,is one of the strategies frequently employed by playwrights.Based on the language data of A Streetcar Named Desire,this paper attempts to make a dynamic study of the hedges in the play from the perspective of linguistic adaptation theory.Hedges,to a large degree,have been found to be attributed to some factors including physical factors,social factors and mental factors.These factors may provide an explanation for the use of hedges in the play.
