Explanation of the Chinese Vocabulary “Zhen”

《汉语大字典》《汉语大词典》中"臻"字所收义项都是七个,但七个意义并不完全一致;另外,所收义项与所引例句有些并不恰当,不能清晰地反映"臻"的意义。鉴于此,本文从"臻"的本义出发,结合其常见的词语搭配情况和构词情况,认为"臻"的义项应为六个,并说明了这六个义项之间的引申关系。

The author finds that＂Zhen＂in the Chinese Character Dictionary and the Chinese Dictionary has seven items of meaning,but these are not consistent. In addition,some of the accepted items and cited examples are inappropriate,which can not clearly reflect the meanings of＂Zhen＂. Therefore,starting from the original meaning of＂Zhen＂,combining with its common collocations of words and word-building situations,the article points out that there are six meanings of＂Zhen＂,and attempts to illustrate the possible extended relationship of these six meanings.
