特里·伊格尔顿(Terry Eagleton)是西方著名的文学理论家。从上世纪60年代至今,他出版了大量著作。他在2014年出版的《文化与上帝之死》更是引起了中西方学者的广泛讨论,书中提出的种种看似反宗教的运动和思潮,实则是宗教变相的伪装,是反宗教旗帜下对宗教内容和形式的部分继承。事实上,资本主义社会中上帝的两次死亡,都未让宗教真正消寂。伊格尔顿在书中揭示出西方资本主义社会妄图寻找上帝代言人的种种问题和矛盾,并以马克思主义式的终极人类关怀直指现代资本主义社会现实。

Terry Eagleton is a famous literary theorist in the western countries. He has published lots of works since 1960 s. His Culture and The Death of God published in 2014 caused extensive discussion among Chinese and western scholars. The book puts forward that all kinds of anti-religious campaigns and trends are actually religions in disguise and religious inheritance of the essence and form in part under the banner of anti-religion. In fact,in the capitalist society,the two death of God had never ceased religion. Eagleton reveals various problems and contradictions that western capitalist society encountered in seeking spokesman of God and exposes the social reality of western modern capitalism in his book.
