The pair-correlation function g(r) was used to study the spatial corrlation and density dependent effects within and between the dominant species(Quercus aliena var. acutiserrata,Quercus serrata var. brevipetiolata and Forsythia suspensa) of a 1 hm^2 plot in Jiulongpu of Luoyang City. The results show that with the exclusion of habitat heterogeneity in the study plot, the overall effect of other species of Quercus aliena var. acuteserrata was not significant, but the negative association was found between Quercus serrata var.brevipetiolatara var. Brevipetiolata and Forsythia suspensa. However, all three species had a significant negative association with other species. The positive association between the small tree and the large tree species also increases the survival rate of the small trees to a certain extent, relieves the difficulty of rejuvenation of Quercus aliena var. acutiserrata,Quercus serrata var. brevipetiolata and Forsythia suspense. In addition,Quercus aliena var. acutiserrata and Quercus serrata var. brevipetiolata are affected by a certain degree of negative density-dependent effects. In summary, the combination of suitable habitats and intraspecific and interspecific positive spatial association ensures the superiority of Quercus aliena var. acutiserrata,Quercus serrata var. brevipetiolata and Forsythia suspensa in the local area.
