The Adventures of Augie March is a novel written by Saul Bellow who was a famous Jewish American writer and winner of Nobel Prize for Literature in 1976. In the interpretation of The Adventures of Augie March from the perspective of Merlau-Ponty's body philosophy,it was found that in the early stage of his body awareness, the outside world was an overwhelming and strange force for Augie, the hero of the novel. In the developing stage of his body awareness, the outside world became something to be taken advantage of for him, while in the mature stage, the outside world became the object that he could hold equal dialogue with. With the description of the hero's different understanding of the world in different stages,Bellow expresses his ethical idea of paying attention to human body itself and respecting the value of life.
