解构极品“中国佬”——严歌苓小说《橙血》对华人男性形象的解构与重塑

Deconstruct the Antique of Chinaman——Deconstruction of the Stereotype of Chinese man in Yan Geling's the Blood from Navel Orange

"东方主义"是西方人按照他们的想象,对他者文化进行设计和创造,使东方便于西方操纵。华人男性的刻板形象正是西方白人种族主义者恶意想象出来以衬托西方人的种族优越感。在《橙血》中,严歌苓用阿贤的觉醒彻底解构了残疾女庄园主玛丽所代表的精致白人种族主义者依照自己的想象设计的极品"中国佬"形象,重塑了有血性、有尊严的东方男人形象。严歌苓在移民题材上的独特演绎,是她为华人移民群体寻求言说与认同的方式之一。

Orientalism is what the westerners designed and created the other culture in their imagination so as to manipulate the orient. The stereotype of Chinese men is what the western white racists have maliciously imagined as a foil to western racial superiority. In the Blood from Navel Orange,with the awakening of Axian,Yan Geling thoroughly deconstructs the stereotype of Chinese men designed by delicate white racists represented by Mary,the disabled female plantation owner. She created Axian,the antique of Chinaman,but just in accordance with her own imagination. At the end of the novel,Axian is proved to be a strong-minded Chinese man with dignity. Yan Geling＇s unique writing on overseas Chinese men is one of her ways that seek to speak up and identify with on behalf of Chinese immigrant group.
