In the early 20 th century,it was once believed that the profession of librarian was a feminine one andits function was similar with women' s role as assistants. However, some feminist librarians took actions inresponse to the second-wave feminist movement in the United States from the 1960 s to the 1980 s,aiming to bemore self-aware and self-empowered. During the movement, they fought for equal rights and commemorated thehistory of women librarian. Later, they tried to support and guide the development of Women's Studies, devotingthemselves to the organization, description and construction of related academic resources.
