On Ren Jiyu's Chinese Buddhist Thought

任继愈是中国现代著名的哲学家、佛学家和历史学家。他对中国哲学史、道家思想和汉唐佛家思想都有系统的研究。他的中国佛教思想主要体现在对佛教的产生、佛教在中国的传播与发展、中国佛教的特点以及佛教与儒教关系等问题的梳理和总结之中,同时,任继愈也看到了佛家文化在中国传播过程中所呈现出的"势差"现象,提倡在中国的文化领域,当务之急是发展社会主义文化。

Ren Jiyu is a famous philosopher,Buddhist scholar and historian in modern China. He has systematically studied the history of Chinese philosophy,Taoism and Han and Tang Buddhism. Ren Jiyu＇s Chinese Buddhist thought is mainly embodied in his combing and summing up the emergence of Buddhism,the spread and development of Buddhism in China,the characteristics of Buddhism in China,and the relationship between Buddhism and Confucianism. At the same time,Ren Jiyu also sees the phenomenon of＂potential difference＂in the course of the spread of Buddhism in China. In the cultural field of China,the most urgent task is to develop socialist culture.
