The reason why the plays by Tennessee Williams, American famous dramatist after WWII, are both critically acclaimed and commercially successful consists largely in their narratives about American society and culture in terms of three ethical dimensions, namely man and society, man and man, man and nature. The Night of the Igualza, his last successful play, deconstructs American traditional cultural values with the post-modern narrative pattern not as its pre-texts do. This paper sets it in the ethical narrative dimensions of its pre- texts and applies the ethical literary criticism, coupling with the writer' s life experience, to investigate Wil-liams' pursuit of the ideal ethics with the essence of tolerance, equality and harmony by penetrating the textu-al different connotation.
