摘要
如果说《新青年》烹调了一道"民主""科学"大餐,那么《学衡》奉献的则是一桌"示正道,明大伦"的人文盛宴。遵循自由和理性的旨归,并同样立足于关怀未来中国的现代性走向,两个文化群体着力于评文学、说文化、论学风、谈教育,以此为支点展开了针锋相对的论战。"新青年"志士如同鲁迅笔下那"敢于直面惨淡的人生"的"猛士";"学衡"同仁犹如宗奉"儒行"之忍辱负重、外柔内刚的"绅士"。无论是"猛士"还是"绅士",作为"不可以不弘毅"的"士",他们都不约而同地将"任重而道远"的道义扛在了肩上。对于中国的现代文化发展而言,他们的对话与争辩是异常可贵的,因为他们在中国现代文化思想进程中形成了难得的张力。恰恰是这种张力,为文化思想史的发展提供了原初的动力。因此,很多时候,我们既需要"猛士",也需要"绅士"。
If "New Youth" has cooked a "democratic" and "scientific" feast, then "Xueheng" is dedicated to a table of "Shi Zheng Dao,Ming Da Lun" human feast. Following the principle of freedom and rationality and also based on the trend of modernity in the future of China, the two cultural groups focusing on literary, cultural, academic atmosphere and education launched a tit-for-tat debate. "Xueheng" colleagues are like the "gentlemen" who are following the "Confucianism". Whether it is "warriors" or a "gentlemen", they all shoulder heavy responsibilities. Their dialogues and debates are extremely valuable for Chinese modern cultural development because they have formed a rare tension in the process of Chinese modern cultural thought. It is precisely this kind of tension that provides the original impetus for the development of the history of cultural thought. Therefore, we need both "warriors" and "gentlemen".
