The Quiet Fields is written by the Russian-Israeli writer A. L. Goldstein. As one of the representative writers of the modern Russian-Jewish diaspora literature, Goldstein treated his novel as a rhetorical experiment, supported by his own literary concept "life-story literature," which has a lot in common with V. Vinogradov's author-image theory. The author's image in this novel could be studied by analyzing the speech structure, which is divided into two main parts: the former can be categorized as the oral layer, in which 'T' acts as the observer, whose narrative focuses on the difference between "the Self' and "the Other;" the latter centers around common people's ability of forming new texts, which serves as the main idea of the "life-story literature" theory; in this part the image 'T' is shaped in the context of intertextuality, showing the destiny of the literature of the Russian Empire.
