因果模型视角下的文学经典翻译——以《三国演义》虞苏美译本为例

Translation of Literary Classics from the Perspective of Causal Model——A Case Study of Yu Sumei's Version The Three Kingdoms

虞苏美的《三国演义》英译本The Three Kingdoms自出版以来获得了极大的成功。然而关于译本质量的评估译界一直存在争论。安德鲁·切斯特曼的因果模型可作为文学经典翻译的有效研究视角。通过对虞苏美译本产生的原因、现象及效果进行分析,发现由于特定社会历史原因的影响,译者在文本的语言、文化和思想层面进行了灵活的处理,于是译文产生了积极的效果。这对我国现今的文化外宣具有借鉴意义。

Yu Sumei＇s The Three Kingdoms has received positive acceptation since its publication. However,the evaluation system of translation quality is still subject to academic argument. Andrew Chesterman＇s causal model can thus serve as a valid perspective to investigate the translation of literary classics. By probing the cause,phenomenon and effect of Yu＇s version,it is found out that due to certain socio-historical causes,the translator translates dynamically in terms of linguistic,cultural and thinking elements,which leads to positive effects. The result can thus shed light upon contemporary cultural publicity of China.
