摘要
Cat in the Rain is one of the classic works which perfectly illustrates Ernest Hemingway’s"Iceberg Principe"in fiction creating because this short story,narrated from the third-person observer’s view without any personal opinions from the narrator,offers opportunities for readers to make various interpretations of it.This study intends to analyze Cat in the Rain from the perspective of stylistics.Through discussing characters’violating of cooperative principles and Hemingway’s use of repetition in the text,this study aims to reveal the metaphorical meaning of the"cat"in the title and the suffering of females who are trapped in unfortunate marriages which lack communication and love.
