The market of Chinese calligraphy was not as popular as the Chinese traditional paintings market, and the calligraphic works are inexpensive with relatively few audience. At the auction market,only few calligraphers can attract great attention because of their artistic value.Yu Youren is one of them. Yu is indeed an outstanding calligrapher of the Republic of China. There are a great number of calligraphers in the period of the Republic of China; however, the reason why Yu can stand out because of his status and influence in both political and calligraphy circles.
