What kinds of backfill materials should be selected for the artificial island at the ZhuhaiMacao Port of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Link Project has confused many experts and scholars.There are multiple kinds of backfill materials available such as earth rock,sand,dredged soil and inert material,and each material has its applicability,merits and demerits,and with different subgrade treatment and inspection methods.In the paper,the comparisons and analysis of different backfill materials are introduced which can provide reference for similar projects.
