The 'Sudden' of 'Sudden rage damages yin, Sudden over-joy damages yang' can be considered as 'big'. It is impossible to define the yin and yang attributes of joy and anger. Rage does not belong to yin, nor does joy belong to yang. Yin does not refer to the blood, but refers to the liver-yin. Yang does not refer to the qi, but refers to the heart-yang. The essence of qi in the five zang organs causes different emotions in the process of responding to external stimuli. The liver corresponds to anger in emotions. The heart corresponds to joy in emotions. The function of liver and heart is driven mainly by yang qi, in the case of Sudden rage, the liver is hyperactive, liver-yang hyperactivity will damage the liver-yin. Sudden over-joy will distract heart-yang so that damage the heart-yang. The appearance of clinical symptoms of liver-yin deficiency requires a process, and it will appear after anger and long anger. Over-joy leads to heart-yang laxity, which has different clinical manifestations due to different degrees.
