The cross cultural phenomenon in music composition can be found here and there in New Zealand composer Jack Body's works. Many of his crossover pieces are based on world folk materials. He never changes, but reserves these materials' original appearances in their simple proto styles, while creating his own individualized structures in the process of writing. A striking example is his mixed media chamber music Interior. The essay intends with an analysis of the work's structure to reveal how he applies Chi nese folk materials to his cross cultural composition, especially reflected in his peculiar structure, and further delves into his music thinking and concepts for creation.
