After the reform and opening up, computer network has been applied to all kinds of new industries. The advent of the digital information age has also played a certain role in promoting the development of new surveying and mapping technology to some extent. The paper will analyze the characteristics of the new surveying and mapping technology, understand its influence in the field of engineering and architecture,and further analyze the characteristics of its development. Finally, the application of new surveying and mapping technology in engineering survey are described and prospected.
