From the perspective of patent,the paper analyzed the patents related to surge technique for compressors. The number of the related patents distributed by countries was summarized. The trends of number of patents distributed by calendar year of grant in China and foreign countries were shown respectively. The main applicants were also list in this paper. The paper summarized the main categories of the surge technique for compressors and their patent distribution. Different surge methods were reviewed. The purpose of this paper is to provide useful information for further development of surge technique for compressors.
