留信弃诗:《新青年》对潘公展来稿的处理论略

On the New Youth Editorial Office's Dealing with Pan Gongzhan's Letter:Keeping the Letter but Rejecting the Poems

1919年1月,上海读者潘公展向北京《新青年》编辑部投寄信件和三首白话诗稿,其中《劝姐妹》诗稿上留有当年《新青年》同人陈独秀的评语。潘公展来信投稿时正值新诗革命在白话新文学运动中艰难的建设时期,其诗语言与体式大胆革新,创作内容表现了五四时代精神,其诗稿对后人研究新诗革命创建期的诗歌特色具有史料价值。

A young Shanghai reader Pan Gongzhan sent a letter and three vernacular poems to the New Youth editorial office in January 1919 and Chen Duxiu wrote his comments on the manuscript of the poem ‘Persuading Sisters＇.His letter on developing new literature rather than his＂solo＂vernacular poems had been published in the magazine＂.The present paper will judge these poems aided by reviews from the editors Chen Duxiu and Qian Xuantong.The poems had been refused by the editors for lack of poetic beauty,but they were novel in language and style during the tough time of the New Poem Revolution in the New Literature Movement of China and embodying the spirit of the May 4 th Movement,they are of historical significance for studying the early stage of the New Poem Revolution.
