叶舟在他的小说《羊群入城》和《大地上的罪人》中塑造了赶羊人这一独特的人物形象。叶舟通过赶羊人这一独特的民间视角思考着人与大地、生命、牲畜的关系,其中蕴含着赶羊人的真诚的忏悔意识,谱写了一首西北大地上赶羊人的哀歌。

In his novels Sinners on the Earth and Flock of Sheep into the City,Ye Zhou created the image of the shepherd,an underclass folk figure.Ye Zhou thought about the relationship between man and the earth,life and livestock through the unique folk view of shepherd,and composed a penitent lamentation for shepherds in northwest China.
