An Empirical Analysis of the Impact of Urbanization on Economic Growth in China

由于我国地域辽阔,各地区在人口、资源、地理环境等方面都有着明显的差异,城镇化水平以及经济发展程度也处于不同的阶段,导致城镇化影响经济增长的机制也会存在着很大的差别,如果只采用全国的时间序列数据进行研究必将忽视地区间的差异。因此,本文将运用除港澳台以外的31个省市自治区的面板数据,通过建立计量经济模型,分析全国以及东、中、西部城镇化发展对经济增长的影响。

Due to the vast territory of China, all regions have obvious differences in population, resources and geographical environment and the level of urbanization and the degree of economic development are also at different stages, so the mechanism of urbanization affecting economic growth will also be very different. If only the national time series data is used for research, it will certainly ignore the differences among regions. Therefore, this paper uses panel data of 31 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions other than Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, and establishes an econometric model to analyze the impact of urbanization development on economic growth across the country and the eastern, central and western regions.
