王仲荦先生二三事

Wang Zhongluo's Patriotism and Academic Research

王仲荦先生是著名史学家,他在长期的学术研究中,并未局限于学科制约,而是亦文亦史,左右兼通,融会人文,自成气象,先生既有文史兼通的学术涵养,又有"通古今之变"的学术视野。从理论到考据,从先秦到近代,从古史分期问题、亚细亚生产方式问题到资本主义萌芽问题等学术大讨论,都留下了他探索的足迹,并且他的探索在许多领域中都能成一家之言,他为后世留下了丰厚的成果,其中既有纯学术性的《北周六典》《北周地理志》等,又有因应时代要求,意在为国家、民族提供借鉴的成果。他一生充满爱国情怀,恪守君子之道、报国之志,至其晚年,更是达到了孔子所言"从心所欲,不逾矩",成就了国学大家风范。

Mr. Wang Zhongluo is a famous historian. In his long-term academic research,he was not confined to discipline restrictions. He was distinguished in the research of both history and literature. Mr. Wang also has an academic vision of mastering changes of ancient and modern times. He has made explorations from the theory to the textual criticism,from the pre-Qin period to modern times as well as from academic issues such as the issue of the period of ancient history,the mode of production in Asia,to the sprouting of capitalism. He has created philosophy of his own in many fields. He has also left behind great achievements for later generations,including both the purely academic books The six chronicles of the Northern Zhou Dynasty and The Geographical Chronicles of the Northern Zhou Dynasty and achievements to provide reference for the nation in response to the requirements of the times. Throughout his life,he was full of patriotic feelings,and he followed the way of the gentleman and the dedication of his country. In his later years,he also achieved what Confucius said ＂do whatever he likes and does not transgress what is right＂and made a national study.
