我国的长城不仅是世界文化遗产,还象征中华民族自强不息厚德载物之精神。要让长城焕发生机,促进长城经济带可持续发展,就必须立足保护,恢复生态,发展经济,繁荣文化,建设五彩长城,推进长城内外及东中西区域之间的协同发展。这需要按照木火土金水相生相克之原理,以生态为基础,构建共生、共和、共赢、共享与共荣的长城保护与发展机制。长城沿线十余个省市自治区要科学地进行生态与经济定位,系统规划设计长城生态工程,科学规划并积极实施长城经济带协同发展战略。

The Great Wall is world cultural heritage, and symbolizes the Chinese spirits of unremitting endeavor and social commitment. To revitalize the Great Wall and promote sustainable development of Great Wall economic belt require protecting and restoring the regional ecology, developing economy, promoting cultural prosperity, constructing five-color Great Wall, and prompting synergetic regional development of inside and outside the Great Wall as well as the middle and west. It is necessary to follow the law of mutual restraint and mutual generation of the five elements： wood, fire, soil, metal, and water, and construct protection and development mechanism of symbiosis, harmony, win-win, mutual sharing and mutual prosperity. Therefore, the provinces and autonomous regions along the Great Wall should properly position economically and ecologically, systematically plan the Great Wall eco-project, and scientifically design and execute synergetic development strategy on the Great Wall economic belt.
