公示语汉英翻译问题与策略研究——以长春市为例

Problems in Chinese to English Translation of Public Signs and Relevant Solutions——with Changchun City as an Example

公示语的重要性决定了公示语翻译的重要性。从长春市公示语的翻译结果和效果来看,很多公示语翻译根本没有传递出原来汉语公示语想要表达的意思,有的翻译一味地追求表面形式的对等,结果意思却面目全非,有些甚至是错误的。把长春市公示语的英译作为本研究的切入点,通过调查公示语翻译的现状,找出公示语英译过程中存在的问题,并提出有效的、切实可行的改进建议和策略。

Since the importance of public signs determines that their translation is of the same importance,the paper presented some effective and practical suggestions and strategies on English translation of public signs in Changchun City on the basis of a survey on the city＇s current situation in the field,aiming to solve certain problems,e. g. some translation fails to convey the meaning of original text,or even distorted the original meaning completely as result of translator＇s pursuit of equivalence on the surface.
