Identification of Chinese Address Form Furen and Its Cultural Translation Strategies

中国文化在"走出去"的过程中,由于翻译标准以及翻译策略的差异,最终的译本也各有千秋。中国文化繁杂的称谓系统常常是西方人士的难点及兴趣点。因此,本文拟选取"夫人"这一称谓词,从语言学角度,借鉴Leech的词义七分法,对其多种译法进行分析以说明,总结出合理的翻译方法,最后对文化称谓词到底采用归化还是异化翻译策略展开讨论。

Nowadays,the Chinese culture in the process of ＂ going out＂due to differences in translation standards and translation strategies,the final translated version has its own strength and weakness. At the same time,the appellation system of Chinese culture is often a difficult but interesting aspect for western people. Therefore,based on Leech＇s Classification of Meaning,this paper intends to analyze and explain different translated versions of the Chinese address form Furen from a linguistic point of view. In the end,this paper comes to reasonable translation methods of Chinese address form Furen and also figures out the suitable translation strategies of cultural appellations by applying foreignization or domestification.
