方以智于此条勾勒了韶乐的起源与发展。由语音分析可知,"招""韶""""翘"同,字形之别仅体现朝代差异。"箫""箾""籥""勺"在造字之初声母的发音部位都在齿头,韵部靠近。"箫""箾""籥"均指为韶乐伴奏的编管乐器,后因周乐《勺》舞者执竿而分化,"箾""籥"渐指单管。
According to Nine Shaos, Fang Yizhi described the origin and development of Shao music. By means of phonetics analysis, we can find that"招""韶""■""翘"refer to the same music and the different characters resulted just from different dynasties. The initial consonant of"箫""箾""籥""勺"are all dental and their finals are similar when they were originally created."箫""箾"and"籥"were the accompaniment musical instruments of Shao music in the shape of a panpipe. With the development of Shao music,"箾"and "籥"gradually referred to a single woodwind or a tube when the music"勺"was composed by the Zhou Dynasty.
