Dongzi thought had a profound influence on his native place, and that was why the people in his native place built ancestral temples and academies to commemorate him in the Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties. The academies mainly included Dongzi Academy both in Jingxian, Hengshui and in Botou, Cangzhou, Da Yuan Academy and Jing Yi Academy in Zaoqing, Hengshui. Dongzi Academy in Jingxian County was built on the basis of the great Confucian Dong Zhongshu Temple in Guangchuan, Jingxian County, Hengshui by Wang Sicheng, the governor at that time, in the years from 1341 to 1368 of the Yuan Dynasty; Dongzi Academy in Botou, Cangzhou, which was located in Lijibei Village, Botou, was built by Feng Shiyong who returned to his hometown after he retired in the Ming Dynasty; Da Yuan Academy was built on the basis of the original school by Luo Tingwei, the county magistrate in Zaoqiang County, in the year of 1554 of the Ming Dynasty to commemorate Dong Zhongshu; Jing Yi Academy was built on the remains of Da Yuan Academy by Fang Zongcheng, the county magistrate in Zaoqiang County, in the year of 1874 of the Qing Dynasty in memory of Jiang Ziya and Dong Zhongshu, and it was the restoration of Da Yuan Academy.
