In American history since the Civil War, the 60 s and 70 s of 20 th century is the most turbulent period with great upheavals and uncertainties. The mainstream traditions are denounced and challenged while new culture and new code of value emerge in the diversification of the whole society and then gradually enter the mainstream society. The Tibetan Buddhism becomes one of the new emerging forces. The sources of DeLillo's religious philosophies running through his writings can be found in Tibetan Buddhism instead of Catholic beliefs. His understanding of Tibetan Buddhism revealed an evolution to the profound. His creation of character, his obsession with words, his resistance to the mainstream civilization of high-tech and material and his choice of solitude lifestyle, are all, more or less, related with his perception of Tibetan Buddhism.
