There is an obvious "material turn" or "non-human turn" in contemporary western critical climate, which draws our critical attention to"things/objects" in literary works. Hemingway's Geographies: Intimacy,Materiality, and Memory(2016) by Laura Gruber Godfrey is just a case in point. The book focuses on Hemingway's "geographical poetics",exploring the ways Hemingway creates intimacy between his characters and places and how he attends to the agency and materiality of the objects in places. The book provides a good example of exploring geographies in literary classics.
