Geopolitics and history shaped security strategic tradition of Singapore. As a small country,Singapore adopted a mixed security strategy of self-help,regional cooperation and free-riding. Strategy of self-help constituted the base of survival of the country.Strategy of regional cooperation aimed at reconciliation of hostility from neighboring countries and free-riding great power helped to consolidation of regional political,economic and security order. Security Strategy of Singapore in the last half century successfully stabilized the national security environment and ensured the country's survival,development and success. The security strategy of Singapore in the future must learn from history and avoid involvement in strategic competition of great power.
