This paper introduces the physicochemical property and applied characteristics of fluorescent whitening agent 5 BM used in detergents. At the same time according to the European Chemicals Authority（ECHA） database and other relevant information, the source, distribution, acute toxicity, genetic toxicity and other toxicological data of fluorescent whitening agent 5 BM, as well as the impact of fluorescent whitening agent 5 BM on human beings, animal and environment are described in detail. The purpose is to give people a comprehensive understanding of the product safety.
