摘要
通过抽样调查注释对中国非英语专业大学生阅读理解和词汇习得的影响,发现母语注释和二语注释对阅读理解都有促进作用,且两者的效果无太大差异。在词汇习得方面,母语注释比二语注释更能促进词汇学习。对学生阅读理解以及词汇测试上的表现进行分析后发现,学生的阅读理解测试得分与词汇测试得分之间不存在相关性,但词汇即时测试与延时测试得分间存在显著相关性。研究发现母语注释对词汇初步学习和长期记忆保持都有积极效果。
The study investigates the effect of vocabulary glosses on comprehension and vocabulary learning for Chinese non-English majors. It is found that L1 glosses and L2 glosses can promote comprehension, but the language of the glosses did not significantly affect the students' reading comprehension. On the vocabulary retention tests, those who had L1 glosses outperformed their peers with L2 glosses, and the differences between them were statistically significant. The further analyses on the relations of stu-dents ' performance on comprehension test and vocabulary retention tests showed that there was no correlation between comprehension and vocabulary retention, and a strong correlation was found between scores on immediate and delayed vocabulary tests. In this study, L1 gloss group got the highest scores on vocabulary tests. This indicated that L1 losses have a positive effect on vocabulary learning and retention.
