Zhang Yuan -ji is one of the most famous publishers in moden＇t China. With his proposal, Commercial Press published ＂Libra17 of Chinese Cla.ssieal Works＂ which was one of the largest series of books of ancient Chinese books. The article chooses the Zhang Yuan -ji and ＂Library of Chinese Classieal Works＂ as objects, and dis- cusses the whole procedure of compilation and accomplishment of this series of books and the contribution of protection for and heritage of ancient Chinese books by Zhang Yuan - ji.
