On the Implications of “Unity of Heaven and Man” for Chinese Tableware Design

"天人合一"思想是中国传统文化的精髓,是中国古代哲学基本精神和审美观念产生的思想基础。其强调人与自然的和谐统一,成为中国人最基本的思维方式之一。在源远流长的华夏文明中,餐具文化成为一个独特的文化体系,在餐具设计的各个方面都体现出对"天人合一"思想的吸收、传承和弘扬。文章选择选材、造型、功能、意境等几个方面,对"天人合一"思想在餐具设计中的体现进行研究分析,以期促进中国传统文化在餐饮文化各领域的传承。

The idea of ＂the unity of heaven and man＂ is the essence of Chinese traditional culture and the ide- ological basis of the basic spirit and aesthetic ideas of ancient Chinese philosophy. It emphasizes the unity of heaven and man, which becomes one of the most basic ways of thinking for Chinese people. In the long history of Chinese civilization, the tableware culture has become a unique system. All the aspects of tableware design reflect the absorption, inheritance and carrying forward of the idea of ＂the unity of heaven and man＂. This pa- per selects material, shape, function, artistic conception and so on, and analyzes the embodiment of ＂the uni- ty of heaven and man＂ in tableware design. It aims at promoting the inheritance of traditional Chinese culture in various fields of catering culture.
