莫言作品的日英译对比研究

A Comparative Study of the Japanese and English Versions of Mo Yan's Works: Features of target text and translators' personal styles

本文通过莫言作品日英译典型译例的对比,区分受限于汉日英三种语言文化系统差异形成的宏观特点和个人选择之下的译者风格。宏观特点方面,日译总体比英译更加"字面忠实"于源语文本,但目的语读者接受过程中容易创造性误读。译者风格方面,葛浩文和吉田富夫重视作品的文学性和大众读者的可接受性,倾向归化翻译;而藤井省三则侧重于通过文学作品了解中国的社会政治,倾向异化翻译。

Through a comparison of the English and Japanese translations of Mo Yan＇s work, this paper distinguishes the personal styles of translators and the macro features of Chinese, Japanese and English language and cultural systems. From the perspective of features, the Japanese version is more faithful to the source language than the English one, However, it tends to lead the target readers to understand the text in a more creative way. As for the translators＇ personal styles, Howard Goldblatt and Yoshida Tomio pay more attention to the acceptability of the general readers, and thus, are prone to domesticate their translations, while Fujii Shozo is more in favor of foreignizing his translation since he lays more emphasis on the Chinese social culture embodied in the text.
