A market survey of honey in Wuzhishan, Hainan was carried out in order to provide references for supervision of the honey market in this area. The survey was done through field visits and network to understand the prices of honey varieties in the honey market, and analyze the quality standard and safety risk of the honey. The quality of the honey was tested in laboratory, and a quick testing method for inspection of honey quality was developed. A comprehensive analysis and evaluation of the honey was made based on the data from the laboratory and the quick testing method. There existed loopholes in the supervision of the honey market, and the honey samples collected from 22 batches of 18 varieties were tested. The results showed that 8 batches of honey samples were not qualified with a rate of up to 36%.The illegal addition into honey still existed. The quality of honey was different without a perfect legal quality standard, which provided a room for the honey counterfeiters to produce counterfeit products. The supervision department should intensify its efforts of supervision and inspection.
