The Reduplication of Citation Tone of Directional Word in Xiangfen Dialect,Shanxi Province

襄汾方言趋向词有后音节读轻声的"轻声式重叠"和两字均读本调的"本调式重叠",前者用法与北京话相近,后者则有几种用法:作中心谓词表示动作量大等;作定语表示对动作的强调;作状语表示行为或事件的事件;作"往|朝|向"等介词的宾语时表示方向。

There are two types of reduplication of the directional words in Xiangfen dialect, Shanxi province. As the first type, the last syllable of the reduplicated directional word is pronounced as a neutral-toned syllable, which is similar to that in Beijing dialect. As the second type, the two syllables in the reduplicated directional word are both pronounced as the citation tone. It can he a central predicate to interpret a large amount of action, an attribute to emphasize the action, an adverbial indicating the time of an action or event, and an object of some prepositions encoding direction or goal.
