Sinologists explore the modernity of Chinese modern literature from different perspectives. And gender construction is an important perspective. Gender construction is involved in ethical issues and identity reconstruction issues. These are also important visu- al fields to observe the gender construction of the late Qing novels. The gender construction fully expresses the subjective consciousness of the individual and displays the subjective initiative. These are the meanings of modernity that can be reflected in gender construction in the novels of the late Qing Dynasty.
