The influence of Hua Yen Sect on Tang Dynasty Poetry

华严宗是盛行于唐代,具有鲜明个性的中国佛教宗派。与唐代其他佛教宗派相比,华严宗为帝王所扶持,且更多地吸收中土传统思想和学术内容,从而,也更充分地体现了中土传统思维的性格,更容易为文人所接受。王维、岑参、白居易、刘禹锡、孟郊等诗人,研习华严义理,与华严名僧多有交谊,华严宗"法界缘起""圆融无碍"等观念,及其所用来表达宗义的形象、事典、情境等,都对唐人的诗歌内容、意境、表现方法等方面产生了深远的影响。

The Huayan Sect is a specific Chinese Sect with distinctive characteristics that gained popularity during the Tang Dynasty.Compared with other sects of the Tang Dynasty,the Huayan Sect immersed itself in all forms of Chinese traditional thought and academic content and because of this it embodies the characteristics of traditional Chinese ideas more perfectly.The Huayan Sect was more easily accepted by scholars,such as Wangwei,Cencen,Bai Juyi,Liu Yuxi,Mengjiao and many other poets,who studied the theories of the Huayan Sect and had friendships with famous monks of the Huayan Sect.There are three specific types of poems created by the Huayan Sect：first,some of those poems express theories of the Huayan sect such as Dharma realm interdependent origination,the contemplation of non-obstruction between principle and phenomena;second,some of the poems put the significance of the Huayan Sect to form a unique artistic conception;third,some of the poems used images,allusions and other methods as the material of the poems in order to enrich some means of expression of feelings and the creation of poetry.
