A Study on the Translation of the Metaphor “Wind”in Political Discourse Based on the Frame Theory

摘要 "风"作为我国近现代政治语篇中的高频隐喻词汇,其英译具有一定研究价值。本文根据认知语言学中的框架理论,利用国内官方英译文本及国外主流英文媒体报道,探讨该隐喻的认知框架,提出当原语读者和译语读者有相同的认知框架时,应采取直译策略,或选取相应的喻体对象;在不同的认知框架中,则需重新建构译语表达形式,主要处理方式有:解释内容,省略喻体形象,转换成非隐喻性词汇。 With certain research value, the metaphor ＂wind＂ is frequently used in the political discourse of modern China. The cognitive frame of the metaphor ＂wind＂ is explored by applying the frame theory in cognitive linguistics, using the official English translation in China and English reports of mainstream media from abroad. As to its translation strategies, literal translation or choosing another metaphor should be used when the frames of source and target language readers are the same; if their frames are different, it is necessary to reframe the translation by explaining the content, omitting the metaphor, or turning it into a non- metaphorical one.
