《偶遇者》呈现了全球化时代下的南非,描述了南非富家千金朱莉与非法移民修车工易卜拉欣的爱恋故事。小说中朱莉不顾一切与易卜拉欣结婚,并与丈夫一起回到他贫穷落后的阿拉伯国家。当朱莉不懈努力地融入当地的生活和文化,最终在文化融合中重新找到自我;易卜拉欣却不甘心困居故乡,千方百计想逃离这种生活。以往研究者主要从生态学、空间批评角度剖析小说,本文采用弗洛伊德的人格三重学说作为理论依据,尝试从新的视角来解读小说主题,让读者更好地理解并欣赏小说。

The Pickup described the love story between a rich lazy Julie from South Africa and an illegal immigrant fixer in an era of globalization. Julie married the fixer at any risk. What＇s more, she accompanied her husband to his poor hometown in Arab. When Julie spared no efforts to integrate into local life and culture and finally found the new ego, the fixer tried every means to escape the life of the hometown. The scholars previously analyzed the novel from the perspective of ecology and spatial criticism. This paper tries to analyze the theme of the novel from the new perspective based on the Freudian psychoanalytical theory in order that the readers can appreciate the novel better.
