Objective To investigate the effect of magnesium valproate combined with lamotrigine on the quality of life and adverse reactions of patients with epilepsy. Methods 87 cases of epilepsy from July 2014 to March 2017 in our hospital were randomly divided into the observation group(n=44) and the control group(n=43). The control group was given magnesium valproate, and the observation group was given lamotrigine on the basis of the control group. Two groups were treated for 6 months. The clinical efficacy, the quality of life(QOLIE-31) score and the incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results Compared with the control group, the curative effect of the observation group was more remarkable, and the total effective rate was 93.18%(41/44), which was higher than that of the control group 76.74%(33/43)(P〈0.05). There was insignificant difference between the two groups in the QOLIE-31 score before treatment(P〉0.05). But after the treatment, the scores of both groups were significantly improved(P〈0.05), and the observation group was higher than the control group(P〈0.05). There was insignificant difference between the two groups in the incidence rate such as nausea/vomiting, diarrhea, anorexia, dizziness/headache(P〉0.05). Conclusion Combination of magnesium valproate and lamotrigine in the treatment of epilepsy has got obvious curative effect. It can effectively improve the quality of life of patients with a certain safety.
