Seeking the “Safety Exit”: A Review of Li Qing's Solo Exhibition

李青的创作专注于对环境、空间的凝视、记忆与想象。记忆中以及当下日常的建筑环境是作品的重要素材来源。李青对空间和造型的处理使用了主观分割错置、透视上变形等方式,希图借此营造一种似曾相识却又陌生疏离的"虚拟空间",在场景的再造和重构中唤起类似经历者共通的隐性心理体验,把握过往情境与日常经验中微妙的心理氛围,同时完成对自我身份的再确认,去接近一种当下自身心理感受和状态上的真实。

Li Qing's artworks focus on the gaze, memory and imagination of environment and space. Daily architectural environments, either in memory or at present, form an important source of material for her works. In treating space and modelling, she uses subjective split and dislocation, and perspective distortion to create a seemingly familiar yet detached "virtual space," thus evoking an implied psychological experience from those with similar background in scene rebuilding and reconstruction. The artist achieves re-confirmation of self-identity and approaches her own true psychological perception and state while drawing on the past situations and subtle psychological atmospheres in daily life experiences.
