Digital cryptocurrency is the product of 21 st century internet computing and finance,a series of network virtual currency based on blockchain technology. Although it has a short history,the cryptocurrency has a huge impact on the world,with its anti-traditional financial characteristics. By analyzing the monetary attribute of cryptocurrency,this paper compares cryptocurrency with gold,and further discusses the socio-economic effects of cryptocurrency. It is believed that cryptocurrency will have a huge impact on traditional finance in the future,which is mainly reflected in the impact on the current legal currency system and the constraints on the government and the central bank.
