Observation of the Stamps of the Bronze Movable-type Characters Once Collected by Luo Zhenyu

今年春季新发现的罗振玉旧藏铜活字字钉,对研究我国古代出版史具有重要意义。本文结合受邀参加研究鉴定之目验,结合多年来对中国印刷史研究之所得,对这批铜活字字钉的年代起止做出判断,并以此为立足点上下求索,力图以小见大,在此基础上勾勒整个中国古代活字印刷技术的发展历程、不同阶段各自特点,廓清旧说中不确之处,为进一步准确把握和评价中国古代活字印刷技术提供参考。

The stamps of the bronze movable-type characters once belonging to Luo Zhenyu that were discovered in the spring 2018 are of great significance to the study of China＇s ancientpublishing history. This paper, on the basis of the observation made by the author when being in- vited to study and authenticate those stamps and the findings from research into China＇s printing history in the past years, tries to make a judgment on the starting and ending years of the stamps, and proceeds from this point to depict the whole development history of movable-type printing in ancient China and characteristics in the different development stages, clarify the uncertainty in the past and provide a reference for understanding and evaluating China＇s ancient movable-type print- ing technology more accurately.
