Ancient Book Collation and Publishing:Opportunities and Tests for Me

程毅中长期致力于古籍整理及研究工作,著有专著《宋元话本》《古小说简目》《唐代小说史》等。1958年12月入中华书局工作,历任中华书局助理编辑、编辑、编辑室主任、副总编辑等职。本文以中华书局从出版分工到成为专业古籍整理出版社的发展为历史背景,讲述了程先生在与金灿然、徐调孚、陈乃乾等老一辈出版人的工作交往中,如何抓住机遇,不断学习、不断成熟,走上专业古籍整理出版的工作之路。

Cheng Yizhong has been long devoted to the collation and study of ancient books. His works include the Song and Yuan Literary Novel Scripts, the Brief Index of Ancient Novels and the History of Novels in the Tang Dynasty. Since joining the Zhonghua Book Company in December 1958, Mr. Cheng has served on several posts including editor assistant, editor, director of the ed- itorial office and deputy editor-in-chief. In the historic context that the Zhonghua Book Company became a specialized house of ancient book collation and publishing instead of a sole publishing house, the paper describes how Mr. Cheng committed himself to learning for skill improvement and developed the career of ancient book collation and publishing by seizing good opportunities while working with senior publishers like Jin Canran, Xu Tiaofu and Chen Naiqian.
